Founder, Ted Herget, started Gearhead Outfitters in a friend’s living room in Jonesboro, Arkansas, in 1997. What began solely as a bike shop quickly turned into an outdoor specialty retailer. The business soon moved into a 700 sq. ft. store where it thrived for five years before moving into a downtown location on Main St. in 2003. As an anchor store for the revitalization of downtown Jonesboro, the store helped bring new life to the historic location.
In 2011, Herget purchased the building across the street from Gearhead Outfitters and Gearhead Cycle House became its own store. The Cycle House is Northeast Arkansas’ only Shimano service center and largest full service bike shop.
